What can Drones and Aerial Imagery do for Citizen Science?

October 20, 2016

Outside of commercial applications, drones have the potential to be used for local social good. We created Whirld, a web prototype encouraging the use of drone technology for citizen science projects. Whirld brings together hobbyist drone pilots and citizen scientists, allowing users to transform aerial image datasets through annotation and mapmaking to address local issues in citizen science.
